A grisette is a style of beer created by Belgian miners and field hands as an easy to drink end of day/midday beer. It was a natural choice for one of our first lineup because it meshes so well with the hardworking entrepreneurs of Kensington Market. Our gamelle grisette is a low IBU, lower alcohol, citrusy brew that is perfect for a hot day kick back. Gamelle is a French term for lunchpail, the kind grisette drinking miners in Belgium were taking to work every day.
To celebrate the launch of Gamelle Grisette (it will be available in our first lineup in a couple of weeks!) we decided to share with everyone some of our favourite lunches in Kensington Market. It was a tough ask because there are roughly a million places we love to eat but also easy because WE LOVE TO EAT. Especially in the market. Without further ado – a very incomplete list of our favourites!
